White House proposes $18 billion in NIH cuts
Last week, President Donald Trump submitted to Congress his FY26 “skinny” budget request, which proposes $18 billion in cuts to the National Institutes of Health. However, House Cancer Caucus Co-Chairs Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Debbie Dingell (D-MI) are circulating a Dear Colleague letter advocating for $7.93 billion (a $710 million increase) in FY26 funding for the National Cancer Institute. Urge your members of Congress to sign on to the letter using ASTRO’s convenient grassroots tool. See more at What’s Happening in Washington.

Both are available on Spotify, YouTube Music and Apple Music. Have an idea for a podcast? Send us an email!
