Cancer Research
Background: Federal investment in cancer research has played a role in every major innovation in the fight against cancer and has led to a decline in mortality rates for many cancers. ASTRO remains focused on securing meaningful funding increases for cancer research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Our FY26 asks:
- $51.3 billion for NIH in FY26, about a $4.2 billion increase from FY25
- $7.934 billion for NCI, about a $710 million increase from FY25
- $1.5 billion for ARPA-H, which is the same level as FY25
- $482.9 million for the CDC Division of Cancer Prevention and Control
