Learning Collaboratives

Are you interested in increasing your involvement with radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT)? Would you be willing to share your current expertise with your peers? Then you may be interested in joining one of our inaugural RPT Learning Collaboratives! These Learning Collaboratives provide a structured platform for shared learning, problem-solving and program development.

What is a Learning Collaborative?

A learning collaborative is a structured yet flexible approach to knowledge sharing, where professionals engage in peer-to-peer learning, guided discussions and expert-led sessions. After approximately one year of ten regular virtual meetings, resources are co-developed to summarize consensus recommendations for other providers working with RPT. Three experts, including at least one radiation oncologist and one medical physicist, will lead each Learning Collaborative. Guest speakers will provide primers on discussion topics of interest to each group.

Each collaborative consists of:

  • Regular virtual meetings with expert presentations and open discussions
  • Peer networking and knowledge exchange
  • Practical solutions for implementation
  • Opportunities to collaborate on shared challenges and innovations

These collaboratives are ideal for professionals looking to deepen their expertise, optimize their programs and connect with peers in the field.

Professionals working in radiation oncology from community practice groups, academic centers, and industrial organizations are all welcome to participate. Participation is free for ASTRO members.

Approximately 30 participants will be chosen for each Learning Collaborative based on a competitive process. Selection criteria will include commitment to expanding RPT work, but a depth of existing experience within the RPT field is not required. The ideal cohort would contain a mix of junior and senior professionals in radiation oncology with varying experience with RPT.

Two Learning Collaboratives are being launched for 2025 - 2026.

Collaborative 1: Engage with RPT Clinical Trials

This collaborative will provide practical guidance on:

  • Assembling your research team
  • Recruiting and educating patients
  • Incorporating biostatistics
  • Collaborating with industry
  • Other topics requested by participants

Collaborative 2: Establish an RPT Service Line

This collaborative will help you in:

  • Acquiring necessary equipment
  • Staffing
  • Patient management
  • Workflows
  • Handling RPT agents and waste
  • Other topics requested by participants

Applications for both Learning Collaboratives will open in September 2025.
