Cancer Research
Background: Federal investment in cancer research has played a role in every major innovation in the fight against cancer and has led to a decline in mortality rates for many cancers. ASTRO remains focused on securing meaningful funding increases for cancer research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Our FY27 asks:
- $51.3 billion for NIH in FY27, about a $4.1 billion increase from FY26
- $7.99 billion for NCI, about a $637 million increase from FY26
- $1.5 billion for ARPA-H, which is the same level as FY26
- $482.9 million for the CDC Division of Cancer Prevention and Control
