ASTRO 2026: The Call for Abstracts opens tomorrow!
The Call for Abstracts for the 68th ASTRO Annual Meeting opens tomorrow, Thursday, December 4. New for 2026, the Late-breaking submission process is changing to ensure we are highlighting the very top science at every stage of planning. Late-breaking abstract shell submissions — placeholders for which no data are required — will be due on the regular submission deadline of February 24, 2026. Data for LBAs will be due on July 10, 2026. Review the guidelines and submit your research by February 24!
 
Upcoming grant funding opportunities
Residents, postdoctoral fellows and early career researchers are invited to apply for ASTRO grant funding opportunities for 2026. These awards, many of which are offered in collaboration with other organizations, range from $50,000 to $225,000 over one to three years. Deadlines are as early as January 12, 2026, and extend to March 2026. Learn more.

President’s Corner Member Spotlight – Dan Petereit, MD, FASTRO

ASTRO bylaws amendments have been approved
ASTRO members voted on bylaws changes including decoupling the bylaws “Amendment Procedure” process from the Annual Business Meeting and updating the ASTRO Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council name, in response to recent Executive Orders and broader ASTRO strategic alignment. The changes were presented to members at ASTRO's Annual Business Meeting on September 30 in San Francisco. Voting was open from October 22 through November 21, and members voted to approve the revised bylaws.
 
What factors influence your job satisfaction?
The ASTRO Workforce Committee and the ASTRO Early Career Committee invite you to complete the Radiation Oncologist Job Satisfaction survey. All radiation oncologists received a reminder email with a link to the survey on Monday, December 1. The survey attempts to gain insight into what factors most strongly influence radiation oncologist job fulfillment and identify opportunities for strategic improvement for our specialty. Please take 10 minutes to complete the survey.

ASTRO and EviCore meet to discuss code changes
ASTRO President-elect Catheryn Yashar, MD, FASTRO, and Health Policy Council Chair Amar Rewari, MD, MBA, FASTRO, led a team of ASTRO health policy physician leaders and staff in a December 1 meeting with senior EviCore officials to discuss recent changes to the radiation treatment delivery code set. ASTRO is concerned about limitations on the use of the new complex treatment delivery code in EviCore coverage guidelines set to take effect January 1. See additional details from the meeting.
