ASTRO President-elect Catheryn Yashar, MD, FASTRO, and Health Policy Council Chair Amar Rewari, MD, MBA, FASTRO, led a team of ASTRO health policy physician leaders and staff in a meeting with senior EviCore officials December 1 to discuss recent changes to the radiation treatment delivery code set. Based on concerns about limitations on the use of the new complex treatment delivery code in EviCore coverage guidelines set to take effect January 1, ASTRO provided information and answered questions on coding for a variety of clinical scenarios. ASTRO appreciates EviCore’s willingness to meet and consider recommended changes to the guidelines in a timely manner. ASTRO Health Policy Council Vice-chair Anita Mahajan, MD, FASTRO, and Health Policy Committee Chair Anthony Paravati, MD, MBA, as well as Payer Relations Committee leaders Ben Durkee, MD, PhD, Terence Sio, MD, MS, and Alexander Chin, MD, MBA, also participated in the meeting.
