Reminder! ASTRO seeks public comments
ASTRO requests feedback on the draft update of the SBRT Model Policy. ASTRO model policies are developed to efficiently communicate what ASTRO believes to be correct coverage policies for radiation oncology services and do not serve as clinical guidelines.

Additionally, ASTRO is seeking comments on the draft Ethics-based Resource for Informed Consent in Radiation Oncology. This resource is intended to provide a foundation for some common understanding of the ethical basis for informed consent in radiation oncology and some practical tools that practices can use as a point of reference in developing practice-specific informed consent processes.

Comments for both documents are due September 16 and can be accessed at www.astro.org/PublicComment.

ASTRO submits comments to NRC and CMS
Earlier this week, ASTRO submitted comments on the NRC’s proposed modernization of its radiation protection framework, emphasizing that reforms should improve clarity and reduce unnecessary burden without weakening safety oversight or patient access. See the letter and additional details.

Additionally, on August 28, ASTRO submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on the 2027 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System proposed rule, urging the Agency to boost hospital and corresponding freestanding center payments for radiation treatment delivery services. See the letter and additional details.

Last call! Today is the final day to apply for ASTRO’s 2027 Government Relations Fellowship
Are you a resident interested in health policy and congressional advocacy? Apply for ASTRO's 2027 Government Relations (GR) Fellowship! The GR Fellow participates directly in advocacy meetings with members of Congress and receives an Emerging Advocacy Grassroots Leader award for travel to Advocacy Day.
