In honor of National Cancer Research Month, ASTRO and Speed of Light are pleased to announce a new fellowship opportunity. The 2026 ASTRO Resident Fellowship program provides a radiation oncology resident (PGY-3 or later) with funding for a mentored research project and a one-year, remote assignment working part-time with AstraZeneca colleagues. One-year research proposals are requested that investigate the intersection of radiation oncology and immuno-oncology in non-small cell lung cancer. |
| The research budget is $50,000, with additional reimbursements available for travel to AstraZeneca sites and the ASTRO Annual Meeting. This program is supported by an educational grant from AstraZeneca. Learn more and apply! | |
| ASTRO and ESTRO announce joint guidelines collaboration |
| ASTRO and ESTRO have signed a new memorandum of understanding to collaborate on future clinical practice guidelines. Announced last weekend during the ESTRO Annual Congress in Stockholm, the agreement formalizes a joint approach to guideline development, including topic selection, governance, authorship and publication. Through the agreement, the societies will produce a majority of their future guidelines together, helping to provide consistent, evidence-based recommendations for clinicians and patients worldwide. House committees focus on physician payment reforms 🗓️ Today, May 20, the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee is holding a hearing examining opportunities for MPFS reforms. The hearing is livestreaming beginning at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. 🗓️ Tomorrow, May 21, the House Ways and Means Committee will mark up the ASTRO-supported Provider Reimbursement Stability Act (H.R.8163), which would increase the MPFS budget neutrality threshold and limit year-to-year variance in the conversion factor by 2.5%. ASTRO remains actively engaged nationwide, drives payment updates among Medicaid, private payers ⚕️ASTRO helped secure Medicaid fee schedule updates for revised treatment delivery codes in Texas, Oregon, Wisconsin and Wyoming, as well as Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in Alabama and Michigan. ASTRO clarifies radiopharmaceutical reimbursement 🔄ASTRO met with First Coast Service Options (FCSO) to clarify quarterly radiopharmaceutical reimbursement rate updates. FCSO advised providers to use its online lookup tool when verifying pricing information rather than file downloads. |
