Meet the journal editors at ASTRO 2024
There will be several opportunities to network with and learn from ASTRO journal editors at this year’s Annual Meeting. Additionally, there will be a coordinated release of journal articles, videos and podcasts relating to research being presented at the meeting. Please contact the Journals Department with any questions or suggestions.
Learn more about APEx at ASTRO 2024
Representatives of ASTRO’s APEx – Accreditation Program for Excellence® will be available during the Annual Meeting to discuss the benefits of becoming an APEx-accredited facility and talk with you more about our new radiopharmaceutical therapy accreditation. Stop by the ASTRO Resource Center (East Salon A/B, Street Level) to meet with an APEx representative and attend EDU 17 - Elevating Excellence without the Extra Steps: APEx Insights and Innovative Strategies on Monday, September 30, at 8:00 a.m. in Room 140. We encourage all ASTRO 2024 attendees to learn more about the Annual Meeting’s rich educational opportunities, networking events and resources that support our mission to promote health equity, diversity and inclusion across the field of radiation oncology. Annual Meeting attendees and ASTRO members will receive daily emails starting this Sunday through Thursday, as ASTRO 2024 gets underway! Stay up to date with meeting highlights and photos, summaries of key sessions and expert commentary on studies being presented at ASTRO 2024! Be sure to pick up a copy of the Daily News on site, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, which include more stories about Annual Meeting, ASTRO and the daily Schedule-at-a-Glance. Your regular Wednesday ASTROgram will resume on October 8.
 
Reminder for public comments deadlines for two guidelines
ASTRO requests feedback on the draft guidelines for Radiation Therapy for Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Anal Canal, due Friday, October 4, and the draft ASTRO/ASCO/SSO guideline on Postmastectomy Radiation Therapy (PMRT), due Monday, October 7. You can also access both draft guidelines and their webforms at www.astro.org/PublicComment.

Stop by the ASTRO Resource Center to talk with an APEx representative during the Annual Meeting or schedule a personalized one-on-one information session.
 
ASTRO issues 2024 Prior Authorization survey
U.S.-based ASTRO members will receive the 2024 Prior Authorization (PA) survey on Thursday, September 26. The 10-minute survey builds upon previous survey data that demonstrates the burden experienced by physicians and their patients as a result of onerous prior auth policies. Members are urged to complete the survey so ASTRO can continue to advocate for PA reform.
 

ASTRO Government Relations Resident Fellow selected

We are excited to announce that Mustafa Basree, DO, MS, a resident at the University of Wisconsin, was selected as ASTRO’s 2025 Government Relations Resident Fellow. Dr. Basree will shadow ASTRO’s Advocacy staff throughout the year, participating in advocacy meetings and functions, including meetings with members of Congress or their staff. Announcing the ASTRO-BCRF RO Visiting Away Rotation recipients and next awards cycle
Congratulations to the ASTRO-BCRF Radiation Oncology Visiting Away Rotation award recipients. These awards provide support to medical students from communities underrepresented in science and medicine and interested in radiation oncology careers to experience four-week clinical or clinical research rotations. The current application period for the ASTRO-BCRF Radiation Oncology Visiting Rotation awards will close on October 16, 2024. Learn more about award eligibility and application requirements.
