| ASTRO seeks public comments for updated guideline on RT for Pancreatic Cancer |
| ASTRO requests feedback on a draft guideline on Radiation Therapy for Pancreatic Cancer. This guideline addresses radiation therapy for the treatment of patients with invasive ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma with a broad spectrum of nonmetastatic (resectable, borderline resectable, locally advanced, and locoregionally recurrent) and metastatic pancreatic cancer. The scope focuses on radiation therapy delivered in the definitive, preoperative, postoperative and palliative settings. | MedPAC releases March 2026 Report to Congress |
| The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) released its March 2026 Report to Congress, recommending a 0.5% increase in physician payments above current law. The report details updates to the payment rules for hospital inpatient and outpatient services, as well as for physician services. Read What’s Happening in Washington for more information. |
| ASTRO sends letter to all 50 state Medicaid directors |
| In response to members’ concerns about Medicaid reimbursement for the revised treatment delivery codes in many states, ASTRO issued a letter to all 50 state Medicaid Directors requesting billing and fee schedule updates for these codes, which took effect on January 1, 2026. Visit our Payer Support and Resolution Center for updated guidance or to report a wrongful denial. |
| Energy and Commerce health subcommittee holds provider hearing |
| On March 18, the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee held a hearing on the role that providers play in driving health care costs. Committee members agreed that consolidation and opaque prices are central drivers of affordability and there was discussion about reforming Medicare physician payments. | The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) is posting an Innovative Solutions Opening (ISO) in support of the One Comprehensive Universal Radiotherapy for Everyone (1-CURE) Program. 1-CURE focuses on the integration of advanced ultra-high dose rate FLASH-RT with multifunctional immunogenic smart radiotherapy biomaterials (SRBs).
