ROCR picks up more bipartisan cosponsors |
Despite a government shutdown, ROCR continues to gain momentum thanks to three new cosponsors in Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), Representative Kevin Mullin (D-CA), and Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK). Both Representative Crenshaw and Representative Mullin serve on the key House Energy and Commerce Committee while Senator Sullivan’s support comes after key contacts from Alaska-based radiation oncologists. ASTRO Government Relations Resident Fellow selected We are excited to announce that Eliane Garlock, DO, a resident in the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health System in Richmond, Virginia, was selected as ASTRO’s 2026 Government Relations Resident Fellow. Dr. Garlock will shadow ASTRO’s Advocacy staff throughout the year, participating in advocacy meetings and functions, including committee meetings. |
U.S. government shutdown continues and RIFs begin |
The U.S. federal government remains closed a third week with negotiations still gridlocked. Over the weekend the White House signaled that the administration will find a way to fund certain government programs while laying off thousands of government workers, including at HHS and CDC.
