Graduating Resident Survey
Congratulations to all PGY-5s on your graduation! The annual ARRO Graduating Resident Survey was sent out last month via email. Please search for any emails (including spam!) from “ARRO” or “Alchemer” in order to find your unique link. The survey results provide important information for your junior peers and is likely the highest-level data for job satisfaction in radiation oncology. The survey takes ~15-20 minutes to complete. WE NEED YOU!

Congratulations on finishing your intern year and officially joining the field of radiation oncology! ARRO is your source for all things radiation oncology. We are thrilled to share that notifications for the 2025 ASTRO Global Health Scholars Program have been sent out. Please join us in congratulating this year’s outstanding awardees:

Call for ARRO CHEST Task Force Lead
Are you passionate about climate change, health care access, and sustainability in radiation oncology? ARRO is seeking a resident to lead the CHST Task Force (Climate, Health and Sustainability). As lead, you’ll coordinate national projects, collaborate with ASTRO and ESTRO, and help shape the future of environmentally responsible cancer care. To apply, send an email to Oluwatimileyin Ojo, MD, or Tugce Kutuk, MD, expressing your short statement of interest (max 250 words) and your CV. Join us in building a greener future in oncology and expanding health care access to all.
 
Call for Nominations: Global Health Faculty Awards
Do you know a faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to global radiation oncology through research, mentorship or program development? Nominate them for the 2025 Global Health Faculty Awards! These awards recognize radiation oncology physicians and physicists who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and impact in advancing global cancer care. Submit your nominations by 5:00 p.m. on July 21 by emailing Oluwatimileyin Ojo, MD. Please include the nominee’s name, institution and a brief description of their global health contributions.

The ARRO Annual Seminar, held during the ASTRO Annual Meeting, is a dynamic and engaging in-person program. As always, we hope to see you in person at the ARRO Reception in the evening.
New! Brachytherapy Workshop at this year’s ASTRO Annual Meeting
ARRO is excited to announce that the ARRO Day program at the ASTRO Annual Meeting has been expanded to include a brachytherapy workshop, Principles and Skills of Brachytherapy: A Resident-focused Workshop, on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. This workshop will include both didactic lectures and hands-on training designed specifically for residents. Regular ARRO Day programming will immediately follow the workshop.

Varian ARRO Bowl at this year’s ARRO Day 2025
The 5th annual Varian sponsored ARRO Bowl will take place during ARRO Day from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. It is a fun, fast-paced challenge for radiation oncology residents and medical students. The winning team receives some pretty awesome bragging rights! This year’s event is hosted by the 4th annual ARRO Bowl winners Erin McCammack, MD, and Alex Grosinger, MD, MS, from the University of Minnesota. Sign your team up NOW!.
Child Care Stipend at ASTRO Annual Meeting!!
ASTRO is delighted to offer a limited number of $250 child care stipends to its members who are residents or in their first year of practice. These stipends are designed to assist with child care expenses while attending ASTRO’s Annual Meeting. The stipends will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible ASTRO members who submit the Child Care Stipend Application for consideration and approval. PGY-5 ASTRO Membership Discount
ASTRO is pleased to offer PGY-5 residents a membership discount as they continue their career in radiation oncology. Join ASTRO and pay only $69 for the remainder of 2025. You will also be eligible for a 75% discount on your 2026 membership dues and a 50% discount for 2027. That’s two and a half years of ASTRO membership for less than the cost of a full year of membership — and you receive the benefits of full membership, including online access to the Red Journal and PRO. You must join and pay $69 before December 31 to be eligible for the 2026 and 2027 membership dues discounts. The sooner you join, the more valuable the offer! Log in to ASTRO.org and join!

Oral Boards Study Groups
The ARRO Education Committee is continuing our effort to form oral boards study groups. These groups will be comprised of residents from different institutions who are interested in oral boards studying. If interested, fill out this form. All residents are welcome to participate, but this is geared toward rising PGY-5s and graduating residents! Please share with your graduated co-residents! We will solicit entries through October, but groups will be formed this summer. For questions, email Shane Neibart, MD.
 
Interested in Clinical Trial Methodology and Design?
Apply for the 2026 RSNA Clinical Trials Methodology Workshop (CTMV) occurring in Jupiter, Florida, from January 10-16, 2026. The focal point of each trainee’s participation is the development of a protocol for a clinical study ready for inclusion in an application for external funding. Deadline to apply is July 15.
