Join our team!! ARRO is accepting nominations for the 2026-2028 ARRO Executive Committee!

Current PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents are eligible for a two-year, nationally elected appointment beginning in April 2026. Nominations must be submitted via email to ARRO by Friday, February 13. You may nominate yourself.

Nominations should include a current CV, a statement identifying the one subcommittee to which the nominee is applying to lead (Education, Communications and Advocacy, Global Health, or Health Care Access and Advancement) along with their vision and ideas for ARRO (one-page maximum), and a letter of good standing from the nominee’s residency program director.

These application materials will be posted on the ARRO website for the duration of the elections, which will run from February 23 to March 6. Residents training at the same institutions as current Junior Executive Committee members are not eligible for nomination.* We strongly encourage residents from smaller programs to run for an executive position. Visit the ARRO website for more information. Please submit your nomination and send any questions via email to ARRO by February 13, 2026, 11:59 p.m. Pacific time.

*Eligibility: All PGY-2s and PGY-3s are eligible except for those from institutions that currently have a resident serving on ARRO as a Junior Executive Member (University of North Carolina, University of Miami, Ohio State University, Washington University in St. Louis).

 
Upcoming Grant Funding Opportunities
Residents are invited to apply for several ASTRO/Speed of Light Foundation grant funding opportunities for 2026. These awards, many of which are offered in collaboration with other organizations, range from $50,000 to $225,000 over one to three years. Deadlines extend through March 2026. Learn more!

EAGL grants are back! Residents apply by February 13 & mark your calendars for ASTRO Advocacy Day April 27-28 in DC
The ASTRO Advocacy Team invites you to join them in Washington, DC, on April 27 and 28, 2026, for a look into Congress and the policy issues that affect you and your patients. Residents and nurses interested in attending Advocacy Day are encouraged to apply for an Emerging Advocacy Grassroots Leadership (EAGL) Award which will provide applicants a $400 grant to offset the costs of attendance. Applications are due February 13. Review instructions on how to apply and additional details.
 
Radiation Oncology Education Collaborative Study Group (ROECSG) Spring Symposium
The 2026 Radiation Oncology Education Collaborative Study Group (ROECSG) Spring Symposium, co-sponsored by ASTRO and chaired by Allison Garda, MD, is being held at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, on May 15. This year's keynote speaker is Colin P. West, MD, PhD, an expert on health care professional well-being and medical education. The symposium offers virtual and in-person attendance options and registration is free! Abstract submissions are due February 23. View more details and register.

ARROAnki is looking to build out our collection of peer-reviewed Anki decks. Please check out our current decks here. If you have an Anki deck that you have built and would like to share it with ARRO and publish it for other residents to use, please email Shane Neibart, MD. We will help you finalize the deck for sharing and recognize you on the next ARROgram!
 
New Radiation and Cancer Biology Study Guide now available through ASTRO Academy
ASTRO is excited to announce the launch of the new and updated 2026 Radiation and Cancer Biology Study Guide, a web-based resource designed to strengthen foundational knowledge in radiobiology. The guide includes 32 topic chapters with multiple-choice questions to promote active learning and support preparation for the ABR Radiation and Cancer Biology written exam. This dynamic tool is ideal for trainees seeking to enhance their understanding of the biological principles underlying radiation therapy. It was developed under the guidance of the ASTRO Education Committee through a comprehensive review and update of the previous study guides. ASTRO members-in-training receive a discounted price of $25. Previous study guides (PDFs) are still available on ARRO's site.
