NEW from ARRO — Resident-led Survey Hub!
Have a survey and need more responses? Want to support your fellow residents and contribute to exciting research in just a few minutes? We’ve got you covered! ARRO is launching a shared platform where residents can promote their research surveys and discover opportunities to participate in projects from colleagues across the country.

📊 To submit a survey, send it via direct message on X or Instagram (@arro_org), or email Jenna Kocsis, MD or Emily Hollis, MD.

Submissions will be posted in a shared spreadsheet and refreshed monthly — so check back often for new opportunities!

 
Nominations for ARRO Faculty Educator of the Year are now open!
ARRO is now accepting nominations for the 2026 ARRO Faculty Educator of the Year award! ARRO strives to promote and recognize educational excellence in radiation oncology training programs. Each year, ARRO presents the annual Educator of the Year Award to one outstanding faculty member at each participating institution.

The chief resident at each program is invited to submit the name of one faculty member who will be provided with a certificate from ARRO. You may consider physicists, biologists or other faculty members if appropriate. Please discuss this award with your fellow residents and ask your chief to submit one nomination from your program for Faculty Educator of the Year. One nominee per institution.

Nominations for ARRO Resident Educator of the Year are now open!
We are excited to announce that nominations are now open for the ARRO Resident Educator of the Year award! The ARRO Resident Educator of the Year Award will honor residents who demonstrate outstanding dedication, innovation and effectiveness in teaching medical students, residents and other colleagues in radiation oncology. All PGY-2 through PGY-5 radiation oncology residents are eligible to be nominated. Individuals can nominate themselves or others for this award. Residents and attendings are eligible to submit nominations.

For each nomination, the following are required: nominee email, institution of training, CV and a letter of support for the nominee explaining why this individual deserves the award.

Reminder! Vote in the ARRO elections
Each U.S.-based ARRO member received an email Monday, March 2, from [email protected] with your unique ballot link to the 2026 ARRO Executive Committee election. Candidates are running for one of four Junior Executive positions, each of whom will chair one of the following subcommittees: Communications and Advocacy; Education; Global Health; and Health Care Access and Advancement. Check your email for your link and cast your vote by March 11.

ASTRO-AAPM grant funding opportunity due March 18
Residents are invited to apply for the ASTRO-AAPM Physics Residents/Postdoctoral Fellows Seed Grant. Up to two awards of $50,000 each over one year are anticipated, and the application deadline is March 18. This award is a joint effort with the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) to support the research of medical physics residents and postdoctoral fellows, and the proposed project must be focused on physics-related research in radiation oncology. Review the detailed eligibility criteria and apply.
 
New Radiation and Cancer Biology Study Guide now available through ASTRO Academy
ASTRO recently launched a new and updated Radiation and Cancer Biology Study Guide 2026, a comprehensive, web-based resource designed to strengthen foundational knowledge in radiobiology. The guide includes 32 topic chapters with multiple-choice questions to promote active learning and support preparation for the ABR Radiation and Cancer Biology written exam. This dynamic tool is ideal for trainees and practicing clinicians seeking to enhance their understanding of the biological principles underlying radiation therapy. ASTRO members-in-training receive a discounted price of $25.

Congratulations to EAGL awardees and looking ahead to Advocacy Day
ASTRO has awarded six radiation oncology residents EAGL awards to attend Advocacy Day 2026 in Washington, DC, April 27-28. This “Emerging Advocacy Grassroots Leadership” award, which helps defray travel costs, recognizes radiation oncology residents and nurses intent upon advocating for the specialty and our patients. See the list of grantees.

Also, consider joining ASTRO in Washington, DC, as well for your chance to meet directly with Senators, Representatives and their staff on the policies shaping radiation oncology.
