Election Rules

Rules for Candidates for ASTRO Office

A nominee may communicate about the election with individual ASTRO members by telephone, letter, email, text or in-person communication. A nominee may use personal email groups or internal email groups within the nominee’s practice or department. A nominee may address an email, text or instant message to a limited number of professional or personal recipients personally known by the nominee. These communications may include a simple link to the candidate’s statement on the ASTRO website.

Election related activity that is not permitted includes but is not limited to letters, email, texts and calls to mass communication lists. In addition, interviews related to the election are not allowed unless conducted by ASTRO for all of the nominees. Debate over social media channels about the election, qualifications of candidates, or issues related to the election is not allowed.
