BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

I am currently Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mount Sinai in New York and I am Scientific Chair of the ASTRO Annual Meeting where I have worked to inform radiation oncologists worldwide about important trends and developments that will improve their practice. I have had some specific experiences that are relevant to serving as Vice-chair of the Education Council:

  • Education – I have been a residency program director at two institutions (MSKCC and Mount Sinai) as well as serving on the ACGME to review residency programs and establish new program guidelines.
  • Leadership – I have been President of the American Radium Society and held leadership positions in other organizations and committees, including ASTRO. I am also a long time Councilman in my hometown of Englewood, NJ so I have real world experience working with a wide range of constituents helping them with their day-to-day issues, handling larger concerns such as housing and public safety as well as managing a $70 million budget.
  • Financial – As a Chair, I manage a department of over 200 people. I have extensive experience in educating practicing radiation oncologists in both academics and the community practice on ways to maximize their work for improved patient care and quality as well as revenue enhancement.
