BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Amar Rewari, MD, MBA, FASTRO, is the Chief of Radiation Oncology for Luminis Health, an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, an Affiliate Scholar of the Hopkins Business of Health Initiative, and a founder and co-host of the Value Health Voices podcast.

Dr. Rewari is a national leader in radiation oncology health policy and payment reform. A member of the inaugural class of the ASTRO Health Policy Fellowship, he chairs ASTRO's Health Policy Council and serves as the Society's Advisor to the American Medical Association/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC), which recommends Medicare values for physician services. He helped create the Radiation Oncology Case Rate (ROCR), the specialty's episode-based value payment model, has served as longtime faculty and organizer of ASTRO's Annual Coding and Coverage Seminar, and also chairs ASTRO's Corporate Advisory Council and Corporate Relations Committee.

Dr. Rewari has become one of the specialty's most prominent public communicators, elevating the visibility of radiation oncology with more than 75 national television, print and podcast appearances in outlets including NBC News, LIVE with Kelly and Mark, USA Today, and People, syndicated into more than 200 media placements appearing in outlets with a combined reach of more than 2.5 billion monthly visitors. Value Health Voices, winner of the 2025 ACRO National Media Award, examines the money, policy and market forces shaping American healthcare with guests from across the policy spectrum, including former MedPAC Chair Michael Chernew, PhD, former CMS Medicare Director Meena Seshamani, MD, PhD, oncologist and former White House Health Policy Advisor Zeke Emanuel, MD, PhD, and Mark Cuban.

In his clinical role, Dr. Rewari leads a department spanning a hospital-based flagship and two freestanding centers while treating all disease sites at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He chairs the Commission on Cancer Committee for the DeCesaris Cancer Institute, serves as principal investigator on national cooperative-group and industry trials, and completed a Johns Hopkins certificate course in proton therapy. Earlier in his career, he worked in the Office of the Chairman at Aetna and in the Healthcare Group at Credit Suisse, and he is past Board Chair of the Fund for Education Abroad. He is an avid traveler and foodie who enjoys scuba, sailing, skiing and tennis.

Dr. Rewari graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Temple University, received his MD and MBA from Yale University, completed an internal medicine internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and completed his radiation oncology residency at Rutgers University, where he served as chief resident and received ASTRO's highest award for clinical research at its Annual Meeting.
