Tell OMB to protect cancer research advancements
June 24, 2026
The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued a proposed rule that would upend how the federal government awards cancer research grants. The rule would allow for review by political appointees as opposed to subject matter experts and allow for grants to be cancelled at any time. Furthermore, the proposed rule would ban the use of funds for publishing and conference attendance and would create exemptions for the public posting of opportunities. You can use ASTRO's convenient grassroots tool to send a letter to OMB about the negative impact these changes could have on both cancer research and patients.
