ASTRO, Research groups call for NIH boost

March 4, 2026

ASTRO joined more than 550 organizations urging Congress to increase funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by 8.7% in FY2027. After securing an increase in FY 2026, medical research stakeholders are looking to build on the momentum and take NIH funding to $51.303 billion, allowing the budget to keep pace with increasing costs and allow growth. ASTRO will advocate for increases for NIH and the National Cancer Institute during ASTRO Advocacy Day, April 27-28, in Washington, DC. Registration for Advocacy Day is filling up fast.
