ASTRO leads 100+ organizations urging Congress to pass ROCR Act this year
September 12, 2025
On September 12, ASTRO joined 104 radiation oncology organizations in a letter urging congressional leadership to pass the ROCR Act this year. Part of ASTRO's intensive, two-pronged effort to advocate with Congress and the Administration to stabilize payments, the letter notes alignment between recent Administration plans and ROCR to use hospital data to set payment rates. "Cost-effective, high-value radiation therapy is primed to make incredible gains for people with cancer, but there is widespread recognition that the current reimbursement system is holding back progress. We urge Congress to advance the ROCR Act this year to achieve payment reform that produces better outcomes and lower costs for patients," wrote organizations representing physicians, patients, hospitals and freestanding centers, equipment manufacturers and others. It's unclear whether a deeply divided Congress will be able to pass health care legislation this year, but ASTRO and ROCR Act supporters are committed to doing everything possible to advance the legislation.
