Lorna Breen Reauth

December 11, 2024

ASTRO joined nearly 60 associations and organizations in support of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act (S.3679/HR.7153). In a letter to bipartisan Congressional leaders, a broad array of physician, nurse, pharmacist, and others encourage enactment of this important legislation either as a stand-alone bill or as part of a legislative package before the end of this Congress.

The Lorna Breen Act was originally enacted in 2022 and is dedicated to preventing suicide and reducing occupational burnout, mental health conditions and stress for health care professionals. Access to mental and behavioral health support and treatment has improved and more health care employers are able to access resources they need.

Both House and Senate Committees have completed review and reported out this critical reauthorization with overwhelming bipartisan support. ASTRO urges Congress to complete action and include this critical policy in any end-of-year package.
