American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) names Karen Davis as Vice President of Business Development & Marketing

ARLINGTON, Va., June 18, 2025

The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the leading organization for physicians who treat patients using radiation therapy, recently welcomed Karen Davis as its first Vice President of Business Development and Marketing.

In this newly created role, Davis will lead ASTRO’s business growth strategy and cultivate public- and private-sector partnerships to advance the Society’s mission and broaden its impact on cancer care. Her efforts will strengthen ASTRO’s growing portfolio of collaborative initiatives that drive scientific breakthroughs for improved patient outcomes, such as its Radiopharmaceutical Therapy (RPT) Roundtable, Scientific Challenges Program and Partners in Patient Education (PiPE) program, as well as its research foundation, the Radiation Oncology Institute (ROI).

Davis brings to ASTRO more than 30 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, most recently as Chief Development and External Affairs Officer for the National Council on Aging (NCOA). Before joining NCOA, she held senior leadership roles at the Student Conservation Association, the National Park Foundation and the philanthropic consulting firm Changing Our World, Inc., where her work included spearheading major capital campaigns and securing government contracts. Earlier in her career, she led fund development and national partnership strategies for the ASAE Foundation and the Brain Injury Association of America.

“Karen’s proven record of building high-impact partnerships and mobilizing resources for mission-driven organizations will help ASTRO accelerate initiatives that improve care for patients with cancer worldwide,” said ASTRO CEO Vivek S. Kavadi, MD, MBA, FASTRO. “Her appointment also marks a strategic step for the Society, as we expand our executive leadership and invest in new capabilities to position ASTRO for sustainable long-term growth.”

“I’m proud to join ASTRO as its new Vice President of Business Development & Marketing,” said Davis. “The opportunity to work with such a dynamic organization is incredibly motivating. I am particularly excited to collaborate with the talented team at ASTRO to increase support for the education and research initiatives that advance the practice of radiation oncology.”

Davis is based at ASTRO’s Arlington, Virginia headquarters. Information about partnering with ASTRO and supporting its mission is available online.
