Charles B. Simone II

Charles B. Simone II, MD, FASTRO is a radiation oncologist specializing in lung cancer and Chair of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Lung Cancer Resource Panel. He is a Research Professor and the Chief Medical Officer of the New York Proton Center and a faculty member in radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
An internationally recognized expert in thoracic oncology, Dr. Simone has helped advance the use of proton beam therapy, reirradiation and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for lung and other thoracic tumors. He has been the National Principal Investigator or Co-Chair of 11 NIH-funded cooperative group thoracic oncology trials and chairs NRG Oncology’s Particle Therapy Working Group and the Proton Collaborative Group’s lung committee.
