ROCR picks up bipartisan cosponsors
Momentum for the Radiation Oncology Case Rate (ROCR) Act continues to grow thanks to two new cosponsors in Reps. Eugene Vindman (D-VA) and Young Kim (R-CA). You can help ASTRO add additional cosponsors by urging your representatives to cosponsor the legislation using our convenient grassroots tool. See more at What’s Happening in Washington.

House subcommittee advances health funding bill
On September 2, the House Appropriations Labor-Health and Human Services (Labor-HHS) Subcommittee advanced its FY26 federal health funding bill to the full committee for consideration. The bill holds National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding flat at $47.8 billion, including a $48 million increase for NCI to $7.27 billion, but would drastically cut the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). See more at What’s Happening in Washington.

Interviews from the ASTRO History Committee
Starting in 2003, the History Committee began conducting interviews from luminaries in the radiation oncology field as a way of preserving society and field history. Each of the individuals interviewed has a unique story from which we have much to learn about their journeys and our specialty’s past, and possibly, our future. This week we feature Richard Hoppe, MD, FASTRO.
