New! Webinar recording: Mastering Your Residency Program
ARRO and AROPA recently hosted the first episode of a new webinar series: "Mastering Your Residency Program." This session was designed for residents seeking to better understand their program’s structure and discover opportunities for growth, including navigating rotations and electives, engaging with faculty mentors, approaching research projects, and setting effective short- and long-term goals. For those who missed the live event, you can view the recording.
Oral boards study groups
The ARRO Education Committee is continuing to form oral boards study groups. Those groups will be composed of residents from different institutions who are interested in studying for the oral boards. If interested, fill out this form. Study groups are geared towards rising PGY-5s and graduating residents; however, all residents are welcome to participate! Please share with your graduated co-residents! For questions, email Shane Neibart, MD.
Seeking volunteers for Medical Student Q&A
Each year, the Communications Committee works with ARRO and the Early Career Committee to host bimonthly Medical Student Q&A Sessions. During these live, one-hour sessions, medical students of all years are invited to ask questions of an Attending and a Resident. Questions typically range from what to expect during residency, what a career in radiation oncology is like, the interview process and signaling, away rotations and research time, navigating the application process, etc. As we prepare for the 2026 year, we are looking for resident volunteers to participate in these sessions. This year we are hoping to have six open sessions where med students can ask any questions, and two to three topical sessions covering the top areas we frequently receive questions on such as the interview process and signaling and away rotations. We are hoping to hold the first 2026 session in February. Please reach out to Beth Bukata to volunteer or with questions.
