Biographical Statement

I am a radiation oncology resident at the University of Kansas Medical Center with a Master of Public Health in Global Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. I grew up in Alexandria, Egypt, where I trained as a physician and first witnessed the gaps in cancer care access that continue to drive my work today.

At Harvard, I received the Rose Service Learning Fellowship, supporting my research on radiation therapy access barriers in Egypt—a project that opened doors to unexpected collaborations, including a multinational Delphi consensus project on radiation oncology quality indicators, which I lead as Principal Investigator. I have also contributed to cervical cancer burden modeling and colorectal cancer screening implementation research in low- and middle-income countries.

These experiences have taught me far more than I contributed, and have shaped my conviction that effective global health work is built on listening, reciprocity, and sustained partnership. As part of the ARRO Global Health Subcommittee, I am committed to making those opportunities available to every resident, regardless of where they train. I am grateful for the chance to serve this community.
