Biographical Statement

Dr. Raju Raval is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Raval’s academic and professional journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to education, mentorship, and advancing care for patients with central nervous system (CNS) malignancies. He completed his doctoral research at the University of Oxford, earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, participated in a Cancer Research Training Award Program at the NCI, and completed Radiation Oncology Residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He joined the faculty of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Ohio State University (OSU) in 2014.

Dr. Raval’s clinical and research focus is on patients with CNS tumors and the evolving role of immunotherapy in these diseases. He has authored radiation protocols for two major international trials and led institutional efforts as Principal Investigator on several trials. He has presented educational lectures at international meetings (ASTRO, SNO), moderated sessions on brain and spine radiotherapy, has served on the NRG Brain Tumor Committee, and is an Associate Editor of the Tumor Section in the journal Neurosurgery.

Serving as the Program Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Program at OSU since 2017, he has led transformative efforts to enhance training and to integrate research and professional development into the curriculum at OSU. These efforts have led to numerous publications, national awards, and research grants for OSU Radiation Oncology residents, and his efforts in leading his training program were recognized by the Office of Graduate Medical Education at OSU with The Outstanding Program Director Award in 2021. Dr. Raval also serves on both the ASTRO Education Committee and the ASTRO Government Relations Committee. He is passionate about mentorship at all levels and has also helped lead the Ohio State University Honors College International Fellowship Committee for the past decade. His experience as a Program Director working with so many outstanding residents has given him the opportunity to lead with purpose, foster a culture of excellence and compassion, and contribute meaningfully to the future of Radiation Oncology.
