Biographical Statement
Karina Nieto, M.D., M.B.A., is Director of Brachytherapy in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, where she also serves as Associate Program Director for the radiation oncology residency program. A board-certified radiation oncologist with specialized expertise in gynecologic and interstitial brachytherapy, Dr. Nieto is passionate about advancing graduate medical education, operational excellence, and inclusive innovation. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic, she held leadership roles at University Hospitals Case Western and led quality improvement initiatives to streamline complex oncologic care. She earned her medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed residency at Wake Forest, followed by an Executive M.B.A. from Kellogg School of Management. At Mayo, she is actively involved in developing interdisciplinary workflows for image-guided brachytherapy and mentoring trainees.
