 Shilpen Patel, MD, FASTROShilpen Patel is a radiation oncologist who is currently practicing at Sutter Health in Northern California and is the principal health equity and inclusive research medical director at Genentech. He is affiliated with the University of Washington Department of Global Health and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's Division of Public Health. In the past he has worked in a variety of settings including academic medicine, working in the startup space, in global health and as director of a nonprofit for statewide initiatives. In radiation oncology he has served as chair of ARRO, served various roles in the Government Relations Council, as chair of the Alternative Payment Model, working on the Maintenance of Certification Committee, working in the Radiation and Cancer Biology Committee and currently on CHEDI. He has a long history of working in civil rights and has served on the boards of Equal Rights Washington, the National LGBTQ Task Force and the Horizons Foundation. He also currently serves on the AMA Foundation’s LGBTQ+ Fellowship Commission and as immediate past chair of the AMA’s LGBTQ Advisory Committee and Young Physician Section. He was just named as #3 in Yahoo’s global OUTstanding top 100 LGBTQ+ FUTURE LEADERS. |
 Jessica Halem, MBAJessica Halem is an award-winning lesbian with accolades from GLMA, Harvard and The Advocate magazine. She was the LGBTQ Director at Harvard Medical School where she grew the student body from 4% to 15% LGBTQ and the OutList to over 350. While at Harvard, Jessica secured a $1.5 million dollar grant to integrate sexual and gender minority health into the curriculum. Earlier, Jessica ran the Lesbian Community Cancer Project in Chicago where she implemented the first cultural competency trainings for the CDC and served on then-candidate Obama’s first LGBT Advisory Committee. Jessica has published on transgender health, optimism and mentoring. |

 Carl Streed Jr., MD, MPHCarl Streed Jr., is an Assistant Professor in the Boston University School of Medicine. After attending medical school and residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins, he completed a fellowship in general internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s. Nationally, he has chaired the American Medical Association Advisory Committee on LGBTQ Issues, served on the board of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ Equality and currently serves on the board of the U.S. Professional Association for Transgender Health. Carl’s efforts to improve the health and well-being of sexual and gender minority individuals and communities have earned him several awards, notably from the University of Chicago and Johns Hopkins University Alumni Associations, the American Medical Association Foundation, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, as well as recognition from the Obama White House. As the Research Lead for the Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery at Boston Medical Center he collaborates with researchers, physicians and staff to assess and address the health and well-being of transgender and gender diverse individuals. |
