COVID-19 Webcasts

In response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced various policy changes and financial resources designed to assist practices as they continue to care for patients during the pandemic.  In addition to COVID-19 guidance articles, ASTRO has created a series of webcasts to provide physicians with additional information about these policies.

 

COVID-19 Policies for the 2019 Quality Payment Program Performance Year

CMS announced specific policies surrounding the 2019 MIPS performance year including automatic reweighting and hardship application opportunities. This quick video provides guidance for radiation oncology practices whether they have submitted 2019 data or not.

Assessing Impact and Securing Financial Assistance

The COVID-19 public health emergency has had a significant financial impact on radiation oncology practices due to declining patient volumes which has resulted in disruptions to regular revenue cycle patterns. The “Assessing Impact and Securing Financial Assistance” webinar is intended to help practices as they determine the financial impact of COVID-19 and begin to navigate the financial assistance resources that have been issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.

COVID-19 Telehealth, Supervision, and HIPAA Compliance

In response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, CMS announced a temporary expansion of telehealth coverage which increases access to telehealth services as part of a nation-wide effort to mitigate the growing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. Radiation oncologists are now able to provide telehealth services via telephones with audio and video capabilities, in addition to other electronic audio/visual devices and services. This quick video provides guidance for radiation oncology practices regarding proper coding for telehealth services during this public health emergency.
