Egypt hosts first ever ASTRO Global Refresher

ASTRO held its first Global Refresher Meeting June 5-6, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, marking a new milestone in the Society's international education efforts. Hosted by ASTRO Ambassador to Egypt Amr Abdelaziz Elsaid, the meeting convened ASTRO faculty and international radiation oncology experts to support early- and mid-career radiation oncologists across Africa and the Middle East through education, collaboration and knowledge exchange. Sessions highlighted key disease sites and contemporary clinical topics, while strong attendee engagement and lively discussion reflected the region's enthusiasm for advancing cancer care. 

The inaugural course also reflected the leadership and vision of ASTRO's International Committee, Education team and participating faculty, and established a strong foundation for future Global Refresher programs designed to strengthen patient care and professional collaboration across borders.
