Combating prostate cancer misinformation with evidence and education
Two webinars available for members leading into ASTRO 2026
As we look forward to this year's ASTRO Annual Meeting, the theme of "Data to Dialogue: Communicating Radiotherapy's Value to Advance Care" reminds us of the critical importance of clear communication with our patients, and how we can better educate ourselves in topics that matter greatly to our patients and their overall health, such as nutrition and lifestyle.
To this point, for prostate cancer specifically, ASTRO has a two-part webinar available that addresses common misinformation, and which provides a specific disease example that helps set the stage for additional conversations at the Annual Meeting.
The webinar is moderated by ASTRO President Neha Vapiwala, MD, FASTRO, and features Stacy Loeb, MD, MSc, PhD (Hon). Together, they share evidence-based recommendations on nutrition and lifestyle specifically for patients with prostate cancer that radiation oncologists can share to combat common misinformation circulating about prostate cancer.
At this year's Annual Meeting in Boston, the Presidential Symposium will showcase how the impact of patients' perceptions — and misperceptions — can play into their care outcomes.
