Call for Papers: Radiation Indications for Nonmalignant Conditions

Advances in Radiation Oncology is delighted to announce a special edition evaluating the application of contemporary radiotherapy in the management of nonmalignant conditions.

The indications for radiotherapy outside of an oncology setting are constantly evolving. Increasingly, radiation is being recognized as an important part of multidisciplinary management for a host of musculoskeletal, rheumatologic, dermatologic, cardiovascular and neurologic conditions. Rapid progress is being made in the development of novel radiotherapy trials and technologies to elucidate the value of radiotherapy in these domains.

Therefore, we are calling for original scientific studies, clinical trials, review articles and opinion pieces on Radiation Indications for Nonmalignant Conditions and its many aspects. Topics of interest include but are not limited to clinical outcomes and approaches to the treatment of degenerative and inflammatory skeletal disorders, applications to hyperproliferative conditions, ablative therapy for cardiac arrhythmias, and both stereotactic and low dose radiation for select neurologic conditions. Perspectives on the practical integration of radiation into multidisciplinary settings, the technical delivery and innovations for treatment delivery, and the biological underpinnings of radiotherapy for nononcologic conditions are also welcome.

Our deadline for manuscript submission is November 3, 2025. To submit, please send papers through the journal’s submission system and select “SI: Nonmalignant Conditions” as the article type. All accepted manuscripts will be eligible for a 30% Article Publishing Charge discount. Thanks in advance to all of you who submit manuscripts, and we look forward to an excellent special edition of the journal. New Article Type: International Corner

Advances recently launched a new article type, International Corner, that focuses on the practice of radiation oncology in lower- and lower-middle-income countries. To be considered for publication, submissions should be original investigations that meaningfully advance the practice of radiation oncology in the country of origin but may not represent the same rigor or novelty as a scientific article. They should provide a summary of the current state of radiation oncology in their given country/region and justify why the reported investigation represents an important contribution to the practice of radiation oncology in that specific country/region.
