ASTRO releases legislative priorities for the 118th Congress
February 1, 2023
As the 118th Congress begins work, ASTRO sent a letter to Congressional leadership detailing the Society’s legislative priorities for the next two years and providing recommendations on how to address the issues facing the field of radiation oncology. The ASTRO Board approved the priorities, which were developed by the Government Relations Committee’s Congressional Relations Subcommittee, during its January meeting.
ASTRO’s legislative priorities include:
- Enhancing care quality and value for patients by reforming radiation oncology payment policy;
- Ensuring patients and radiation oncologists make all treatment decisions by removing barriers like prior authorization delays; and,
- Increasing cancer research funding that leads to cures and improves patient outcomes.
