Reimbursement

practice_reimbursement_280x255.jpg

This section is rich in information that educates and assists members in getting the correct reimbursement for the cancer treatments provided to their patients. Keeping apprised of policy and coverage issues, as well as staying up-to-date on Medicare and private payer news and initiatives, is critical for running a successful practice.

  • Medicare

Medicare uses the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) to reimburse for physician services. CMS publishes a Proposed and a Final MPFS Rule each year that addresses certain provisions and changes to Medicare Part B payment policy.

  • Private Insurance

ASTRO is actively engaged in working with private insurance organizations in areas that impact coverage and payment of radiation therapy services.

  • Model Policies

ASTRO model policies were developed as a means to efficiently communicate what ASTRO believes to be correct coverage policies for radiation oncology services.

  • Practice Management Resources

ASTRO Practice Management Resources are developed to provide information to the membership on topics of interest related to coding, reimbursement, coverage and practice management.
