Just released — Science Highlights: Genitourinary Cancer
ASTRO members may now access the FREE Science Highlights recording: Genitourinary Cancer. This session highlights six of the most clinically relevant abstracts within the Genitourinary Cancer track of the ASTRO 2022 Scientific Program. These noteworthy scientific abstracts share important findings and feature cutting-edge research from leaders in the field. A new Science Highlights session will be released at the end of each month. Science Highlights are a free ASTRO member benefit. The cost for nonmembers is $79. Access Genitourinary Cancer Science Highlights along with the four previous releases in the ASTRO Academy.

June 2 webinar: Your role in radiation oncology advocacy
Do you want to get more involved in ASTRO’s advocacy efforts? Join this free webinar, Your Role in Radiation Oncology Advocacy – An Advocacy Day Recap, on June 2 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time. Leaders from ASTRO’s Government Relations Council and committee and ARRO will provide an Advocacy Day recap and an update on ASTRO’s legislative priorities, as well as ideas on how to get involved. This webinar is an Early Career Committee, SWRO and ARRO collaborative initiative. The webinar is free to attend; however registration is required.
 
Help spread the word: Medical Student Q&A sessions
ASTRO’s Communications Committee is hosting several Q&A sessions for medical students starting June 6. Each session will feature a radiation oncologist and a radiation oncology resident and provide a platform for medical students to learn more about the specialty, the residency application process and more. Share this flyer and information to help spread the word and invite medical students to attend!
 
Go format-free with journal pre-submission inquiries
Would you like feedback on your journal article topic, or are you unsure if your research matches the ASTRO journals’ scope? Submit any idea through the submission portals for the Red Journal, PRO and Advances in Radiation Oncology. Select “Pre-submission Inquiry,” and you may submit an idea, an abstract or the full paper for preliminary feedback — no formatting is necessary. If the editors wish to send your paper for review, you will receive instructions on how to proceed. This service is offered free of charge.
 
New on the Blog: ASTRO’s role in NCCN guidelines
Sandra Zaky, MD, MS, former ASTRO Guidelines Subcommittee Chair (2018-2022), shares an inside look at how ASTRO guidelines are created and describes the relationship between ASTRO and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network's (NCCN) guidelines. Learn more on the blog and review a helpful Q&A on how to become more involved in ASTRO's guideline development.
 
Call for committee volunteers closes Friday, June 2
ASTRO’s annual call for volunteers will close on June 2, so act now to make your selections. After logging in, you may select up to two committees in order of preference. Volunteers who are selected to serve will be notified no later than August 28 with the service year beginning October 3, 2023. View the Roadmap to Committee Service infographic  to learn more about the selection process.
