The ASTRO Fellows designation is awarded based on length of ASTRO membership and commendable service to ASTRO and to the field of radiation oncology. The required length of active membership in ASTRO is 15 years. In addition, four possible pathways to becoming a Fellow – leadership/service, research, patient care and education – are considered.
The Gold Medal is ASTRO's highest honor bestowed on revered members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of radiation oncology. This includes research, clinical care, teaching and service. Recipients are drawn from any of the scientific disciplines represented by the members of the Society.
Membership is the highest honor ASTRO bestows upon distinguished cancer
researchers and leaders in disciplines other than radiation oncology, radiation
physics or radiobiology.
