The ASTRO Fellow designation (FASTRO) is awarded based on length of ASTRO membership and commendable service to ASTRO and to the field of radiation oncology. The required length of active membership in ASTRO is 15 years. In addition, four possible pathways to becoming a Fellow – leadership/service, research, patient care and education – are considered.
The ASTRO Fellows Program had its inaugural year in 2006. The first group of ASTRO Fellows was inducted in a ceremony on Sunday, November 5, at the 2006 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. As of September 27, 2016, 269 ASTRO members have been inducted into the Fellows Program. The most recent class of ASTRO Fellows was inducted at a ceremony this past September during ASTRO’s 58th Annual Meeting in Boston.
