Maria Voermans

In 2008, I had sudden pain in my upper right thigh. After the pain persisted for months, an orthopedic specialist ordered an MRI and found a mass in my upper thigh. I was referred to an oncologist and a biopsy confirmed my worst fear: the mass was an ultra-rare form of cancer called proximal-type epithelioid sarcoma (ES), stage three.
