In November 1958, 58 physicians met at the Palmer House in Chicago and officially founded the American Club of Therapeutic Radiologists. This club of 111 members would eventually become the world's largest radiation oncology society, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) and boast close to 10,000 members. ASTRO: A Celebration of 50 Years follows the creation of the Club in 1958 through ASTRO's current position in the world in 2008. |
