The 2010 Chicago Multidisciplinary Symposium in Thoracic Oncology will offer valuable information on the interdisciplinary approach in the treatment of thoracic malignancies. Research shows that a combination of therapies can improve patient outcomes by reducing side effects and improving survival rates. Speakers will address a variety of strategies to treat lung and esophageal cancer, malignant mesothelioma and metastatic cancers of the chest. Cancer Imaging and Radiation Therapy Symposium - A Multidisciplinary Approach

The Cancer Imaging and Radiation Therapy Symposium will take a multidisciplinary look at cancer staging and treatment seeking the many points of contact between imaging and radiation oncology from the day of diagnosis through the entire course of the patient’s disease. Leaders from the world of diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and physics will discuss cross-sectional anatomy, the distinction between tumor and normal tissue, image modality selection and target definition, as well as new developments in brachytherapy, IGRT and 4-D therapy. The future of biological imaging and adaptive therapy will be addressed from the perspective of both specialties.
