"The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) developed the Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) to promote national correct coding methodologies and to control improper coding leading to inappropriate payment in Part B claims. The CMS developed its coding policies based on coding conventions defined in the American Medical Association's CPT manual, national and local policies and edits, coding guidelines developed by national societies, analysis of standard medical and surgical practices, and a review of current coding practices.”

  • ASTRO submits comment letters to CMS on those NCCI issues related to radiation oncology, to advocate for fair and accurate reimbursement for the services that radiation oncologists provide. To review ASTRO’s comment letters on the past NCCI edits, please click here.

To review the current version of NCCI edits, you can visit the CMS Web site by clicking on one of the links below, but please note that there are separate lists of National Correct Coding Initiative Edits, depending on the site in which a service is provided to a patient.
