ASTRO/AAMD Accreditation Grant for Medical Dosimetry Programs

 

ASTRO and the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists have established a program to subsidize the costs of initial and continuing programmatic accreditation for dosimetry programs in the United States. This program awards up to five grants of $5,000 each. Applications will be accepted from educational programs of all types including certificate, associate, baccalaureate and master's. Eligible educational programs must show proof of an accepted self-study and application to the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology for programmatic accreditation. The application deadline for this award was June 15, 2009.

ASTRO/AAPM Radiation Oncology Physics Residency Training Grant

 

ASTRO and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine have established a program to promote the development of radiation physics residency programs, leading to more graduates and more qualified professionals entering the work force. The purpose of the grant is to provide assistance to newly established programs working toward accreditation. ASTRO and AAPM will award up to $72,000 each year in total funding. Individual program grants will not exceed $12,000. The application deadline for this award was June 15, 2009.

Radiation Therapy Technology Education Matching Fund Program

 

The Radiation Therapy Technology Education Matching Fund Program provides radiation therapy technology programs with additional revenue to bolster enrollment and aid in the cost of education materials and distance-based learning. Participation in the program is simple. ASTRO members are encouraged to contribute to the Radiation Oncology Institute and designate any active and certified RTT program as the recipient of the contribution. The Radiation Oncology Institute will match contributed amounts up to $5,000 for any one program. The total amount for all programs to be matched in a given year is $30,000. The program will run from January 1, 2009, until December 31, 2009, (or until funds are exhausted).
