Projects
In March of this year, the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology welcomed our newest elected Executive Committee members. Karen de Amorim Bernstein, M.D., Luqman Dad, M.D., and Vinai Gondi, M.D., now comprise the junior committee and have dedicated themselves to expanding the role of ARRO’s service to both residents and the ASTRO community as a whole. Linna, Johnny and I are happy to welcome them to the ARRO team and believe this has been a highly productive year to date. Before the Annual Meeting, I wanted to give you a quick update on some of our current projects.
The Web site
The ARRO Web site is getting a makeover! Residents and attendings have given much feedback regarding the need for timelier ARRO Web site updates, greater access to educational materials and an easier navigation format. Over the next few months, we will be working with ASTRO to retool the site in a way that increases its functionality. Our goal is to create the best possible shared network for residents across the country. We hope the site will allow you to easily access the information residents need on a daily basis, including contouring guides, nodal atlases, relevant publications, board preparation materials and past examinations. In addition, we are designing a social network where ASTRO members can connect with each other, find research partners, develop professional relationships and plan for future academic or business pursuits. The Web site will also eventually host the ARRO National Journal Club webcasts, allowing real time discussions with leaders in our field.
